Bridging Visa B - BVB - (Subclass 020) - Information
Who can make a request for a BVB
You can make a request for a Bridging Visa B (subclass 020) in case you satisfy the below conditions:
- You are currently living in Australia
- You possess a Bridging visa A (BVA) or a BVB
- You have requested for a substantive visa in Australia that can be issued to you during your stay in Australia
- You have considerable causes of willing to depart from and come back to Australia as your substantive visa request is under process.
In case you and your relatives have requested for substantive visas together, you can also request for a BVB (subclass 020) together. This implies that you and your relatives need to fill just one form and pay for one visa application fee.
You may take in the following individual in your visa request:
- your spouse
- Your or your spouse's dependent kids
- Someone else who is a dependent relative living along with you.
How to request for BVB (subclass 020)
You can download and complete the Form 1006 from the website of Department of Immigration and Citizenship and after filling it and attaching the necessary documents like duplicate of passport etc submit it at the nearest Australian Processing Centre.
You and anybody mentioned on your request form have to be in Australia when the request for BVB is forwarded and the visa is issued.
When to request for BVB
You are supposed to make the request for your BVB no sooner than 3 months, and not later than 2 weeks, earlier than the date on which you intend to leave Australia.
A few visas can be issued only when you are in Australia. If you request for a BVB much earlier of your intended date traveling, it can be hard for the office of immigration to review whether your substantive visa will be issued for the judgment.
Likewise if you wait till the last minute to request for a BVB, there will be a risk that you would not be granted a BVB before you depart from Australia.
